Adansonia digita, commonly known as Baobab, is found in Africa, Australia and South America. While its exact original location is under debate, Baobab has been part of our eco-system for over 10 million years.
The Baobab tree produces fruits, with a powdery pulp and seeds, that dries naturally for 6 months on the tree. Due to the pulp’s high content in Vitamin C, Minerals and Antioxidants, it has in recent years been used by manufacturers as a food additive (energy bars, yogurt, ice cream and dietary supplement) or added to beverages (energy drinks and juices) and integrated into skin care products (moisturisers, anti-aging and facial masks). The dried pulp has also been used for medicinal purposes in tropical areas where it is native from.
The Baobab seed oil, rich in essential Fatty Acids, is used as a natural ingredients for skin care and hair products.
